Underwater World Theme Park is located in Pantai Cenang Beach, a popular beach area. It was between marine areas and the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia.

Company Underwater World Langkawi Sdn Bhd (UWL), which promotes Underwater World Theme Park, the method of bringing research scientists and animal experts to undertake research in an effort to attract more tourists to Langkawi.
Underwater World Langkawi is a subsidiary of Eden Inc Berhad (EDEN). EDEN Inc Berhad was incorporated in 1977 and became a public listed company in 1994.

* 19 August 1993 Akuarium Langkawi Sdn Bhd was incorporated.
* 26 August 1995 Underwater World Langkawi was opened to the public (was known then as Akuarium Langkawi Sdn Bhd)
* 5 October 1995 Akuarium Langkawi Sdn Bhd changed its name to Underwater World Langkawi Sdn Bhd
* 19 March 1996 Tun Dr Mahathir officiated the launch of Underwater World Langkawi.

GeoPark is a geographic area in which the natural heritage is protected in a holistic manner to conserve wetlands.It has attracted tourists from all over the world and to date has received over 10 million visitors.

UWL now has 400 species of marine life and recently received two pairs of birds Rockhopper Penguin species from South Africa.

Underwater World Langkawi theme concept focused on knowledge,education and entertainment. It can create awareness about the importance of conservation of aquatic and marine life to man.


Underwater World Langkawi is the only tourist destination that has a 15-meter tunnel surrounded by 500,000 liters of sea water in which there are a lot of big fish and other marine life. Visitors can walk the tunnel surrounded by water and the marine life.

The research program is also held by some experts from the local University and Unesco in development efforts as a whole Langkawi Geopark, a recognition of the contributions by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).


Their continued efforts in research will provide valuable results for the goal adds to thepotential of the tourism industry in Langkawi.
